Happy Weekend

high bun weekend hairplaid leopard shirt weekend bag

weekend coffee rings red nailsWhat wacky weather we’ve had in DC this week. From below freezing bitterness to a lovely warm January weekend. I don’t quite know how I manage to dress myself every morning!

I’m going to take full advantage of this nice weekend though. Lots to do. Lots of people to see. A few special things to look forward to: avocado toasts, bright new polish, ladies brunch, Downton Abbey, journal writing, ommm, side table shopping, letting my vanilla cake candle coax me into baking something sweet.

Tell me what you’re up to and have a happy weekend!

Too Cold to Blog

Ha, just kidding. Almost. It’s been pretty darn cold here in DC and I just can’t get my fingers, toes and nose warm. So I’m thinking super warm thoughts. Like these…

Restoration Hardware slippers Graffiato gnocchi tea reading Hunger Games

  • • My favorite vanilla and cinnamon black tea from Trader Joe’s in one of my Anthropologie “N” mugs
  • • Roasted potato gnocchi with black truffle and wild mushroom from Graffiato – aka melt-in-your-mouth amazingness
  • • Day dreaming of a trip to sunny Southern California
  • • My plush foot duvets (silly name, stupid warm) from Restoration Hardware
  • • Curling up under the covers to read the third Hunger Games book (the “Girl on Fire”) on my Kindle Fire (fire = warmth)
  • • Yoga in a dark, toasty room with a focus on breathing and letting go
Tell me, what’s keeping you warm in this chilly January weather?

Daily Inspiration

don't worry everything is going to be amazing quote

Every day I’m feeling more and more optimistic about life. I love this because I’m starting to feel more like myself again. I know that there are great things ahead, and I’m getting excited to discover them.

It’s pretty warm in DC today, but I’m dreaming of a white Christmas – especially once I’m home with my family and we can cuddle up in big down blankets, eat leftover chocolate pound cake, and light a real fire. (Although my fake Netflix yule log is kind of amazing.)

I’ve got a few more busy days of work, parties and shopping ahead of me though. Then we can all slow down and just bask in the warmth and joy of the holiday.

Happy first night of Hanukkah too!

Holiday Warmth

I got a perfect little present in the mail yesterday: the Restoration Hardware Gifts catalog. I know it’s still October, but every single page just enveloped me in warmth and joy and coziness. It was like one big joyous hug. Flipping through the pages, I just wanted to curl up next to a fire with loved ones, sip hot cocoa, play games and watch the snow fall outside. It even makes me excited for winter to creep in…which might be happening sooner than later. Snow tomorrow??

I just had to share some of my favorite things from the catalog…fur, lights and fun…

Street Style

Yes, I know there have been countless style posts on this fabulous lady Olivia Palermo. Even her name screams, I’m-beautiful-and-famous-and-look-so-damn-perfect-all-the-time à la Blair Waldorf. I just love this girl (and I have absolutely no idea what she even does or why people are taking photos of her). Her street style is flawless and I love how she does black. Just so damn well. A few of my favorite looks that are inspiring my fall-into-winter wardrobe….
