Happy Monday! I wanted to share a great little watercolor series in the New York Times from their former art director, Leanne Shapton, that I just happened upon this weekend. She did quick little pattern studies that were published on Wednesdays in April 2011, mostly based off of fabrics and clothing she wore. I love the singular patterns and the tiny story behind each one. Simple, pretty, special.
“Vintage Halston shirt from a secondhand store, worn to dinner with my brother and his girlfriend.”
“Layla cotton shirt worn over a bathing suit to Macaroni Beach.”
“Vintage silk scarf from a secondhand store, worn to a meeting at the British Library.”
“Tartan wool skirt that used to belong to my Aunt Pam, worn to the Belsize Park cinema.”
“Vintage dress from a secondhand store, worn to dinner at Nick’s Cove.”
