Echoes of Fragrant Voices by Jo Howe

When I first saw this artwork, I immediately had one thought and one thought only. Pasta. It’s probably because it’s my favorite food. And because I eat it several times a week. But seriously I can’t get it out of my mind when I see this piece.

My pasta routine usually includes sautéing farmer’s market veggies in garlic and olive oil, adding a little cream, tossing in some capellini, and topping with a heap of shaved parmesan. It’s simple, quick, and always delicious. But this piece got me thinking of other kinds of pasta I’m craving to make this summer. Corn in pasta? Yes please!

Many Strong and Beautiful Women

Many Strong and Beautiful Women Kiki poster art

Happy International Women’s Day. The above print by the artist Kiki is one that’s near and dear to me – it’s been hanging in my room at home since I was very little. Other than my nickname used to be “Kiki” and the print’s vibrant colors– I think my mom picked this one out because it’s title was great message to aspire to while growing up: “many strong and beautiful women.”

I’m so lucky to be surrounded and inspired by so many strong and beautiful women. Let’s continue to uphold and celebrate these two powerful traits in us all.

Art to Inspiration

I kind of love March’s “Art to Inspiration” feature – it speaks to me so perfectly, especially right now. You see, I work with these colors all day, every day. Gold and Navy. Buff and Blue. I like to say that I work in “collegiate fashion” – it’s a little more glamorous. Which is what I’m trying to do, really. Make t-shirts and athletic logos feel fun and stylish. Nonetheless, when I’m not promoting GW merchandise, I still encourage wearing these fantastic colors. So my wardrobe is filled with hues from this stellar painting, and I absolutely think you should add them to your closet this spring with these four fabulous dresses…

Art to Inspiration

Today I’m participating in yet another fun group blogging project. Supal promoted us with this stunning painting below by Hiroshi Matsumoto. I’m not always drawn to red, but this piece immediately reminded me of the power of this bold color. It also screamed Anthropologie to me. While I could never go all-red with anything, I’m a big fan of pops of the color throughout the home. I’m so crushing on these colorful and artful accents that go hand in hand with this striking painting.
