My Studio Apartment Tour

This post is long overdue but oh well. I’ve received many questions about my studio apartment tour in the Everygirl (mostly about my pink ikat rug!), so I wanted to share a few more photos and provide some of the sources too. My favorite place to shop for my apartment is Home Goods (and Craigslist too), so a lot of those things can’t be sourced. But if I left out anything, leave me a comment and I’ll tell you where it’s from.

I love my little “dressing area” when I step out of bed onto a soft flotaki rug.

When I actually do sit down to write at my desk, it’s a fantastic place to work. But let’s be honest, I’m mostly blogging from my bed or couch.

A wall of windows really provides great light in my apartment and makes it feel so much bigger than it is.

For my wallpaper entry, I tore out full pages of magazines with images I love – food (the fired chicken photo might be my favorite), fashion, interiors, cute boys, colorful designs – and using double sided tape, I put them up in rows. I think there’s about 150 pages up on the wall. I can easily remove one image if I find another one I like.

Also, how embarrassing. I forgot to clean up that messy area above my fridge where I store bags of chips and pans. Oops. :)

If you haven’t already, head over to the Everygirl and read more about my apartment.

Oh, and if you want to see something hilarious, check out this post from 2009 where I share some photos from my then brand new apartment. It feels nice to look back and see how both my apartment and I have grown.

I’m an Everygirl

I couldn’t be more excited to share with you my studio apartment tour on the Everygirl today! Not only have I wanted to share my whole place for a while now, but I’m so thrilled that it’s on the Everygirl – which was started by two girls who I’ve admired for a long time.

So check out my girly DC studio apartment and get to know a little bit more about me and my place. I hope you like it as much as I do!

A Clean Kitchen

I hate my kitchen right now. Reluctantly, I’ve been able to get myself in there to prepare a few farmer’s market inspired meals and bake a cheesecake, but otherwise, I don’t want to even step foot in it. Last week I spotted a mouse on my counter. MY COUNTER. By my dishes and my coffee maker and my olive oil and my cute dish towels. I’ve scrubbed and disinfected. I’ve set up traps, patched holes, and the exterminator is coming soon. I’m trying to not let such a little thing get me down. But I’m still just so disgusted and frustrated by it.

So today I’m dreaming of these kitchens. Where things are clean and sparkly and it’s a treat to cook a meal. Let’s go there. And if you have a kitchen like this, please have me over. I’ll make you spaghetti and a soufflé.

Room with a View

I’ve been spending a few nights a week on my rooftop, which has been a great little escape from the city streets below. Last night you could even see the stars! But these lovely images have me yearning for a tiny balcony. A place to grow some flowers and eat perfect little breakfasts while reading the paper. I don’t need a lot of space, just my own little room with a view.
