This post is long overdue but oh well. I’ve received many questions about my studio apartment tour in the Everygirl (mostly about my pink ikat rug!), so I wanted to share a few more photos and provide some of the sources too. My favorite place to shop for my apartment is Home Goods (and Craigslist too), so a lot of those things can’t be sourced. But if I left out anything, leave me a comment and I’ll tell you where it’s from.
Ikea dresser (old) | cube | Home Goods mirror | lamp | DIY art | Osborne and Little wallpaper
I love my little “dressing area” when I step out of bed onto a soft flotaki rug.
Desk | Ghost Chair | Notebooks | lamp
When I actually do sit down to write at my desk, it’s a fantastic place to work. But let’s be honest, I’m mostly blogging from my bed or couch.
Blogs and Coffee print | framed Missoni pansy fabric | framed yearbook cover
Kitchen Aid Mixer | Apron | Measurement Print | my own lemon paintings
My mixer’s name is Ruby and she’s fabulous, isn’t she?
West Elm Tray | Home Goods wine rack | Crate & Barrel champagne flutes (old) | Paper Source paper that I put behind some of the cubes | my own art
Ikea Table | Chairs | Bookshelf | Bar Table from Home Goods which I spray painted gold
My apartment is never this clean btw!
Ikat rug | Flokati Rug | Duvet
A wall of windows really provides great light in my apartment and makes it feel so much bigger than it is.
French pillow | Coffee table and side table: found on Craigslist | Couch: passed down from a friend | Gray fleece chairs: Bloomingdales from the 1980s | metallic pillows from Urban Outfitters (old)
For my wallpaper entry, I tore out full pages of magazines with images I love – food (the fired chicken photo might be my favorite), fashion, interiors, cute boys, colorful designs – and using double sided tape, I put them up in rows. I think there’s about 150 pages up on the wall. I can easily remove one image if I find another one I like.
Also, how embarrassing. I forgot to clean up that messy area above my fridge where I store bags of chips and pans. Oops. :)
If you haven’t already, head over to the Everygirl and read more about my apartment.
Oh, and if you want to see something hilarious, check out this post from 2009 where I share some photos from my then brand new apartment. It feels nice to look back and see how both my apartment and I have grown.
Nice job, Nikki! You’ve done great for the amount of space you have!
So, I’m really, really jealous. Because when I lived in a studio it was the MOST misshapen rectangle and we literally could not put a bed AND sitting area in it unless the bed was a twin. Your place is AMAZING.
Love the way you decorated your studio! It’s definitely giving me motivation to spruce up my apartment. Great blog!
I am in LOVE with your studio apartment. I rented a studio the first year I lived in D.C. and had the hardest time figuring out how to arrange furniture to creature flow and make the most of the tiny space I was given. I clearly did not master this because your apartment out shines mine by a lot!! Even though I’m not in a studio apartment anymore, want to come decorate my place?! :)
So much inspiration! I adore your studio apartment. How neat! I love the use of space and the furniture you chose. Your color palette is fun and warm. Those windows are to die for! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Love it!
Super girly, cute and cozy! you did a great job with this space
Love seeing how your apartment has grown!!
Just like you….love, mom

i love this behind-the-scenes look! definitely a step up from the past (: only way to go is up!
This is amazing!! It’s so inspiring! I wish I had decorated my studio in grad school like this. I love your blog by the way. I am an excited new reader!
I cannot BELIEVE this is a studio! So amazing and airy, despite everything its filled with! What a fun place to live, love it!
I love the way you decorated your home so much, as well as the crazy amount of light you get! Thanks for linking to where you bought things.
I absolutely love your space and all the colors! I think your raspberry kitchen aid would be friends with my light blue mixer, we call her Tiffany!
You’re place looks great. You are so young. Everything is always a work in progress.
i adore your place! i love how you used the space and color. and your kate spade tote is wonderful. :) you have inspired me to name my mixer.
Great place! You’ve inspired me to love up my studio and make it pretty and bright. I don’t have quite the windows and sunlight but it’s a nice little alcove studio. I just need to do more to it and let it shine!
Would love to know where those darker brown boots are from, next to the Hunter pair?
Such great use of space. I LOVE the pink wine rack. Any chance you remember the name of the manufacturer? It’s just so great!
Love this! I am dying to find a studio apartment — do you have any tips or suggestions for finding studio apartments in DC, and how to know whether one is workable? Sometimes they have such strange layouts!
Your flat looks AMAZING! I just adore all the pops of pink! I so wish I had a studio like that!

So what I’m about to ask is a little creepy, but you wouldn’t happen to live in the Imperial House building would you? I’ve admired your blog for months and just revisited your apartment tour page when I noticed a bunch of similarities and the familiar view outisde your window. I will consider myself very lucky if you live in the same building. I’ll also be sad, because your place puts my dinky studio to shame.
Your space is so much fun! LOVE it, girl! :)
Love your place, love your style and could YOU possibly be any more adorable? I think not.
The interior decoration in this apartment is adorable !!!
I love how you’ve decorated it! :) I am moving to DC in a few months and looking to get a studio apartment (most likely in Dupont). Would you mind if I asked which apartment building this is in? I love how you get so much natural light and wanted to see if they have any units available. Thanks!

Hi there! I just saw this website and I absolutely LOVE your orange couch! Do you know, by any chance, who the manufacturer of it was? I know you said it was a hand over from a friend but I’d love to see if I could look it up. Is there a tag anywhere on it?
Thank you!
I love your personal style and am bookmarking this post for ideas for my own bedroom. Thanks for sharing!

Your apartment is inspiring. I have a studio that I have been in for 4 years and I’ve had a hard time with the layout, but this gives me ideas. Beautiful place.
Hi. im from another side of the planet. just got a studio apartment myself with a similar layout to yours. just wanna say, i love how everything seems so perfectly in place! love how its super neat and cozy. thanks for the inspiration!
IN LOVE with your space! Its bright and although its clearly not big ( much like my own 460 sq ft studio) It is well designed. For another tiny-studio layout option swing by an take a tour of my place on my blog. I would love to see what you think.
